Jason Wu for Target

It’s official. The next high street collaboration people will be losing their minds for will be created by one of the First Lady’s personal faves – Jason Wu. The collection will be designed exclusively for American chain Target, however that won’t prevent the most hardcore of British Wu fans from scoring a piece of his ladylike style at a tiny fraction of what his mainline retails for.

Renowned for a polished, feminine aesthetic, Wu has translated this into a collection of cost-conscious garments and accessories, all of which are said to retain the brands’ classic, sophisticated approach to design. Florals, stripes and even playful prints based on the collection’s mascot, Milu the cat, will feature on a selection of pleated dresses and chic separates such as silk blouses and tennis skirts, all of which can be dressed either up or down.
After a teaser video created to introduce the partnership was released last October showcasing the designer busy at work in his studio, excitement for the collaboration sky-rocketed, despite many feeling somewhat despondent at the thought of actually trying to purchase any of the pieces on offer. After the infamous fights over the Missoni for Target collection last year, of which the majority of the items bought ended up on Ebay for at least triple the retail price, many people feel as though the future of such high street collaborations is decidedly bleak. However for the very lucky few, those who are willing to stand in endless queues and battle through hoards of eager shoppers, it is a rare opportunity to own an affordable item by one of America’s hottest young designers.
The pieces, which range in price from $19.99 to $59.99, will go on sale on the 5th February in Target stores and online at target.com
