Smoke and Mirrors

Here at Tantrum, we're blessed enough to have a whole bunch of cool, creative, artsy friends (and fans!) One such friend of ours is illustration student and all round cool-girl, Shauna Tranter, who, alongside her studies, will soon be launching a store, Smoke and Mirrors, selling handmade items including clothes, accessories, artwork and objects. 

The first original pieces available to purchase from Shauna's store are these incredible, individually handmade and hand-painted skulls, currently available in bubblegum pink and a lime green, all featuring unique hand-painted designs to finish. Reminiscent of popular Mexican Day of the Dead skulls, but with more of a contemporary and fresh twist, these quirky pieces are already incredibly popular with us at Tantrum, we can't wait to get one of these beauties down to brighten up our HQ!

Jewellery by Jaymie

We love many things, it's true. Some of those things include Morrissey,  Pugs, Kurt Cobain, Americana, Unicorns, Pineapples, Chanel No.5 and Brigitte Bardot. So it's no wonder then that we also love Jaymie O'Callaghan, the messy-haired, cat-loving, tea-drinking, film-nerd and fashion enthusiast whose whimsical collection of jewellery features all of the above and more!

The 22-year-old illustrator/blogger/jewellery designer is inspired by different era's (all of them!) and counts silver screen icons Audrey Hepburn & Marilyn Monroe as some of her biggest influences (alongside sparkles, flowers, pastel colours, fairytales and "Marie Antoinette-filled enchantment and whimsy")

Jaymie's unique creations feature her own hand-drawn illustrations of all the things that inspire her, fashioned into cute and quirky little necklaces and rings. Now, we don't know about you, but we just can't wait to pay homage to our idols (and cute bow-tie-wearing cats...) by wearing these one-of-a-kind handmade beauties round our necks!

Wolf & Moon

As you guys probably already know, we're always on the lookout for cool, affordable jewellery (err, who isn't?!) So when we stumbled across the mystically-named Wolf & Moon, we were pleasantly surprised - they were cute, quirky and... within our budget!

Introducing: Wilma & Winston

We just love coming across quirky new online boutiques. Don't you? Every so often we find one that we just need to share with all you beauts and that's just the case with Wilma & Winston. Founded in 2010, W&W is driven by street-inspired clothing and focus on showcasing one-off pieces - whether they're vintage, up-cycled, handmade or manufactured by W&W themselves.

Inspired by vintage, 'dirty-chic' grunge, rock, punk and acid-wash (all of which we just so happen to be huge fans of!) W&W's pieces are carefully chosen for their originality and style and have a focus on the teeny-tiny details, like the colour of stitching and the shiney-ness of buttons that most people can often overlook.

Esty store spotlight: Cakeeater

Now, we're huge fans of all things kitsch, and so upon trawling through the online wonderland
that is Etsy, we were pretty psyched to come across these amazing handmade pins by Cakeeater.

Available in a range of colours and words, from 'creep' to 'doll', 'witch', 'teen dream' and 'alien she' (you can even put in custom requests to have a truly individual pin!) These heart-shaped beauties are lovingly handmade, painted in cute pastel shades and finished with a glittery topcoat.


Cakeeater is the brainchild of Seattle-based designer/illustrator/crafter, Natali Wiseman who makes "things that are cure and/or spooky". She's inspired by her love for candy colours, riot grrrl, fancy desserts, '60s kitsch, movies about teen schoolgirls, glitter and the pastel toys she had as a kid.

Little Fille AW11

You know those times you sit doodling with your biro, drawing hearts, dreaming of you and someone you have your eye on? We’ve been doing it all day, ever since we saw this sneak preview of Little Fille‘s AW11 collection. We just can’t get enough. If the SS11 collection was anything to go by we are in for a real treat.

If you aren’t aware of Little Fille, they create gorgeous, unique, handmade headpieces in a variety of colours and designs - each Little Fille piece is different, suiting a variety of occasions.
