Spirited Away.

What with us being British and all, we're always on the lookout for some cool headgear to protect our hair (and ears!) from our nations notoriously unpredictable weather. Que, Spirit Hoods. These faux-fur animal-inspired beauties don't just look insanely cosy but also pretty fun.
With various styles to choose from, including huskies, pandas and snow leopards, you can pick the animal that best represents your personality or  the one that erm, goes best with your outfit.

And as fun as they seem, Spirit Hoods take a more serious tone when it comes to helping our furry friends. A portion of every sale of Spirit Hoods goes directly to a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping whichever Spirit Hood animal you choose.

So go on, tell us what Spirit Hood best embodies your style. I, for one, just can't wait to get my paws on the Red Fox one!

Keep it clean.

With the summer season approaching us fast, we've been slowly building up our festival survival kit and everyone knows that means a steady supply of baby wipes, booze and... dry shampoo.

Now, we've always been a bit wary of dry shampoo. The whole concept of being able to make your hair clean without washing it is a bit mind-boggling but we thought it was about time we gave it a bash with Batiste

We headed straight for the tropical-scented can, spritzed it on, massaged it in, brushed it out and voila. There it was. Clean, grease-free and textured, volumous locks with a gorgeous coconutty smell, just as easy as that. Yeah that's right, Batiste does exactly what it says on the can and leaves you with refreshed, healthy-looking hair minus the hassle of washing.

With numerous different varieties and scents, they have the perfect dry shampoo for every taste and a price-tag that doesn't pull the purse-strings. We're seriously considering investing in a life-supply of Batiste and erm, never actually washing our hair again!
Don't judge us, give it a shot yourself and you'll see exactly what we mean!

prices range from £1.52 - £3.56, available from Boots, Superdrug and other good retailers.

We expected this from The Vaccines...

As some of you may know, Tantrum HQ has recently been rocking to the sound of our new loves The Vaccines. What Did You Expect From The Vaccines is one of those rare albums that can stay permanently in a CD player because you know that it has a song for any mood - and that's just the first of its virtues.

There's the feeling that although this album is their debut, it signals the start of our long love affair with the band. A return to the rock'n'roll era that's been sorely missed, The Vaccines fill a gaping hole in the music scene at the moment.

The album has been dividing opinions since it was released, but it is so worth listening to. One of our highlights is opener Wreckin' Bar, with its kicking beat and relentless chant. Single If You Wanna (below), Norgaard, and Family Friendare destined to become old friends, with a mixture of power and feeling that's just irresistible. Our personal favourite has got to be anthemic Post Break Up Sex, which manages to be both mournful and kick-ass all at once.

The Vaccines have been hailed as the saviours of guitar rock, and this album does nothing to dispute this claim. Put down your false idols and worship at the altar of The Vaccines - we'll save you a spot.

She’s Electric

Last week we were lucky enough to use The Electric Cinema in Birmingham as a location for one of our editorial shoots. With the concept of the shoot being a childhood rhyme with the line ‘sitting in the backseat drinking Pepsi’ (hands up if you remember the rhyme!), the retro-styled Electric was the ideal setting, and the plush red carpet and vintage cherry seats provided the perfect backdrop for the shoot.

As the UK’s oldest working cinema it was a privilege to shoot an editorial feature for our first issue here. With luxury seating at the back of the cinema with waiter service it would be nothing less than a treat to watch a film here (far from being in your local Odeon getting popcorn thrown at you by spotty teenage delinquents.)

The Electric continuously screens mainstream films but also embraces many art and independent films which are an all-round bonus! Now showing Submarine, Norwgian Wood, Archipelago and soon-to-be showing, Sucker Punch and Source Code.
Don’t hesitate to visit the website for the current independent film screenings and keep your eyes peeled for Tantrum’s debut issue where you can see the complete shoot in all it's cinematic glory!
